Standing by the Community in Times of Need

As part of the global 16 Days of Activism, the Zonta Club of Greater Dhaka planned a day-long environmental awareness programme with the children of Korail Bosti. The event was designed to inspire love for nature through lake-cleaning, tree planting, art sessions, and meaningful conversations on gender equality and non-violence.

However, the devastating fire in Korail Bosti changed the course of our initiative. With hundreds of families losing their homes, we redirected the entire event budget towards emergency relief. In collaboration with partner organisations, we provided food, clothing, utensils, and essential supplies to affected families—including the children of Khokhar Pathshala.

Throughout the relief effort, we chose not to display banners or branding. This was a moment for compassion, not visibility. Our priority was to stand beside the community with empathy and support.

At Zonta Club of Greater Dhaka, we believe true service is defined by intent and impact. We remain committed to empowering women, children, and families—especially in their moments of greatest need—and we encourage others to join us in rebuilding hope for the Korail community.
