Bangladesh had gone through a lot of catastrophes, both political and natural after the 66th Zonta convention. The student’s uprising started on 12th July,2024 leading to the change of existing government in Bangadesh and the formation of a new interim government on 7th August 2024,  headed by Nobel Laurette Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

Then Bangladesh was hit by flash flooda, almost submerging areas like the  northeastern part of Bangladesh.
In response, Zonta Clubs of Bangladesh acted immediately to distribute one thousand flood kits to women and girls containing biscuits, dates, puffed rice with jaggery, sanitary napkins, orsaline, candles, lighters, soaps, towels and medicine like paracetamol.

These kits were distributed through the Bangladesh  Naval force as they possed boats to go through the deeper flood affected areas.

Some of the kits were also distributed through a  foundation called Hashimukh which is lead by a woman, since they too  had their own volunteers and  boats.

This is the first phase of our climate justice action. After the water recedes, Zonta clubs in Bangladesh intends to jointly proceed with  the phase 2 action which is the rehabilitation of woman and girls.
This entire project was headed by the Governor of District 25 Dr. Zareen Delawar, Vice Area Director Zaeda Khatun, Climate Justice Co-chair Hosne Ara Idris, District Correspondence Secretary Aniza Chowdhury and all club presidents and members.

This action was published  in the local newspapers, giving due visibility to Zonta and our actions. It took Zonta only 3 days to act on this climate disaster. Our moto was we all work together “Fun with Purpose”.
